A Breathtaking trip to Lake Naivasha
and Lake Nakuru!!

Hi, we are Victoria and Janine and we live in a country that has many wonders, Kenya. Two of the wonders that we have chosen to describe are Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru we will begin with Lake Naivahsa

Lake Naivasha runs along the Rift Valley and is one of the two exceptionally beautiful freshwater lakes in the Rift.An oddity characterizes Lake Naivasha as it has no visible outlet. Many theories have been forwarded to explain this feature.
To get to this wonder it is approximately an hour's drive  from Kenya's capital Nairobi along the Trans- Africa Highway in the Northwest direction. This is a spectacular scenic route along the immense Rift Valley.

There is a vast amount of grandstand scenery over huge distances.
This magnificent lake lies on the valley floor at about 6200 feet above sea level. It covers about 60 sq miles and drops down in a single sweep, from the Rift above leaving towering walls on either side.
Naivasha water is indeed fresh, abundant and excellent for irrigating the surrounding fertile volcanic soils. The soils of Naivasha spring many tons of vegetables and a colourful range of flowers which are harvested for both Nairobi and overseas markets.

Lake Naivasha is has also been turned into a recreational area for the capital Nairobi. A hotel called the Lake Naivasha club promises a peaceful , relaxing and luxurious stay at the exotic lake. This hotel is part of the Block Hotels, Kenya. The rooms are like apartments and have each has beautiful charm of its own and allows and individuals privacy. This hotel also provides delicious continental meals and lots of sporting activities. It a perfect way to spend the weekend, either fishing, sailing or water-skiing.
A number of lodges and camps also provide a reasonable overnight stay  in the town of Naivasha. The tiny, but enchanting town of Naivasha is a dusty little market town which is based from the colonial times.

Lake Naivasha is a dream for the ornithologist. There are few places which display such a wide range of water and land species and not forgetting the ever-charming birds in such a pleasant environment.
Some of the few breath-taking animals, birds and fish found at the glorious lake are: Sport fish, red swamp crayfish, tilapia, hippos,  white pelicans and not to forget the great amount of the beautiful flamingoes.
The areas of undisturbed bush and the lakeshore are a magnet for a savannah game such as zebra, giraffe and waterbuck.

This magnificient lake is truly a paradise heaven!!!!
