Drama at the
Mombasa Academy
The Mombasa Academy has a
long tradition of staging excellent plays over the
years. In 2006, two plays were staged – Oscar
Wilde’s ‘ The Importance of Being Earnest’,
directed by Miss J. Bhasin and a Toksvig
Perkins production based on Greek myths and
legends ‘Pandemonium’,
directed by Mrs M. Joshi.
There were several sterling
performances from the cast of ‘ The
Importance of Being Earnest’. Frank Zahlten
played the inimitable Jack Worthing,
Benjamin Potter acted as the
irrepressible Algernon Moncrieff, Lady Bracknell
was played by the spirited Rehema Wachira ,
Cecily Cardew by Milkah Seifert,
Gwendolen Fairfax
by Hanna Daham, Miss Prism by
Nusayba Anjarwalla, John Hansen played
Chausable, and Lane, the butler was played by
Jay Dave. James Karigithu also gave a
memorable performance as the butler, Merriman at
Algernon’s flat.
