Pastoral Care

  • Much emphasis is put on producing a friendly, caring atmosphere.

  • Form teachers are responsible for the welfare and progress of all pupils in the school up to and including Year 11.

  • In the Sixth Form all pupils belong to a small tutor group for which the same teacher will usually be responsible throughout the two years.

  • There is an excellent Parents Teachers Association where elected parents and staff can exchange ideas designed to benefit the welfare and education of the children.

  • A Personal Development programme providing information and guidance on many subjects including the dangers of substance abuse, gives the opportunity for students to discuss issues they will meet as they leave childhood.

Involving Parents

  • Detailed personal reports are written at the end of the 1st and 3rd term. In the 2nd term a brief progress report is sent, but all parents are given the opportunity to meet subject teachers.

  • At the beginning of each term a newsletter informs parents of news, achievements and events to come in the term ahead.

  • A School Calendar is sent to all parents at the beginning of every term.

  • At Parent Evenings, teachers are available to outline pupils achievements and aims and to discuss strategies for achieving their goals.

  • Students Diaries are issued to all pupils. As well as a homework record, the diary forms a vital path of communication between parents and teachers.

  • Parents wishing to discuss their child’s progress have access to all teachers through an appointments system, and the Headmaster and his Deputy are always willing to meet parents at any time.
