Established
in 1978
Mombasa
Academy is a private day school for boys and girls between the
ages of 2 and 18 years.
Situated
off Greenwood Drive in the center of Nyali, it was established
in 1978 by Mr. F. J. Bentley, a pioneer of Private education
in Kenya. By 1984 the school’s half Olympic size pool had
been built, music and mathematics rooms and the multi-purpose
assembly hall had been constructed and a further 2.5acres of
land was acquired across the road as playing fields.
In
1986 Mr. Prem. D. Prinja became the new owner and a
substantial amount of capital was injected to add many
improvements including specialist science laboratories,
classrooms and equipment. After the completion of eight
further classrooms the Junior School moved from the main
campus to the adjacent plot and studios and flats for teacher
accommodation were built. The well equipped Playgroup is the
latest addition to the Junior School. Mombasa Academy
comprises three departments: Junior, Preparatory and
Secondary, all housed on the same campus and sharing
facilities and to a considerable extent, staff expertise. This
helps to unite the many nationalities represented in a family
atmosphere of disciplined friendliness, while giving scope for
the energies and the talents of each age group.
An
International Teaching Institution
Mombasa Academy has an International Teaching Institution
status and is able to offer a wide range of examinations
including G.C.S.E. and modular ‘A’ Level Courses alongside
the traditional G.C.E.‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels. |
