Developing
the talents of each pupil
-
Pupils
are encouraged to strive for excellence in all endeavours,
be they academic or non academic.
-
The
curriculum of the school aims to develop the individual
talents of each pupil to the full.
-
Pupils
are encouraged to appreciate the value of self-discipline
in their work, appearance and behaviour.
-
The
relatively small, friendly and caring environment ensures
each pupil is individually known by most members of staff.
-
The
wide-ranging sporting, social and cultural activities help
pupils to develop their talents and abilities.
-
Growing
up in a multi-cultural environment helps pupils develop
consideration and tolerance for the views of others.
Encouraging
Responsibility
-
Whole
school and departmental assemblies invite reflection on
serious issues when a class performs a' Thought for the
Day’ once a week.
-
The
President’s Award scheme, which is equivalent to the
Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme in the UK, contributes to
character development.
-
There
are many opportunities to acquire leadership skills as
House Captains and Prefects and through the Community
Sports Leaders Award.
-
'Pupil
of the Week’ Certificates are awarded weekly to
recognize character and moral development.
-
Raising
money for children’s charities through sponsored
activities helps raise awareness of the less well off, and
a thriving Rotaract Club, the youth division Rotary Club
International, encourages young people to focus their
attention on the needs of the less fortunate members of
their community.
-
The
opinions of the pupils are aired in regular student
Council meetings, to which all classes from Year 5 send a
representative.
